Let the Beauty that we love, be what we do...

Health Tip for the Month:

One of the best ways to fend off the flu is frequent and thorough hand washing.

Another Yogic method for sustaining and creating health is to regularly clean and wash your nasal passages to clear out excess mucus.

Neti is one of the Shat Kriyas (six cleansing practices). It is used for cleaning the nasal passages, and can be done with both water and a 'string'.

Regular use of the Neti Pot as well as salt water gargling will help you reduce the risk of coming down with some winter cold or flu.

We have Neti Pots & Neti Sutras for sale - $20 for a package of both.

Did you know that sugar depresses the immune system?

(Something to keep in mind as we move past Halloween and towards all those yummy Christmas cookies!)

Sugar raises insulin levels and upsets the body's blood-sugar balance, which inhibits the release of growth hormones, promotes the storage of fat, and ultimately depresses the immune system. This is not something you want to happen if you are trying to avoid coming down with a nasty little bug!

Sugar contains no protein, no vitamins, no minerals, no fat or fiber. It is a "stripped" carbohydrate and consists essentially of "empty" calories. When we eat sugar, we cause a "nutritional debt" in ourselves.

The majority of sugar we consume is hidden in our food - so be wise - read those labels, and try to eat as much fresh and natural food as possible.

Let's all stay healthy and strong this season!

Inspiration from the Masters:

The Prayer of St. Theresa:

“May today there be peace within.

May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be.

May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others.

May you use the gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.

May you be content with yourself just the way you are.

Let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.

It is there for each and every one of us.”

Have a great month & we'll see you in class!
