many systems and functions as it relates to Yoga Asana, and the practice
of Pranayama.
We will teach specific ways to modify and move in and out of
postures, and demonstrate how the body is systematically opened through
the progression of asanas within the Ashtanga Yoga practice.

Eastern approach – chakras, nadis, the five koshas, the three bodies
Yoga Therapy:
Yoga Therapy & Teaching Special Cases – Students will learn how to modify the postures and practice to accommodate many different types of people, and will cover an assortment of different problems or difficulties that are commonly encountered.
We will look at the healing benefits of different postures, and how to design a class, and teach with a therapeutic approach to the Yoga practice.
Yoga & Ayurveda – Ayurveda means “life science”, and in India it is thought to be the ‘sister science’ to Yoga. Students will learn the basics principles of Ayurveda and how they relate to our practice of Yoga, as well as to lifestyle and Diet.
We will also examine the philosophical school of Sankhya, which is the underpinning philosophical system shared by both Yoga and Ayurveda.
Students will discover areas in their own lives where they may be creating imbalance, and will learn ways to balance their doshas.
Yoga Diet – Food and diet are an indispensable part of
this Yoga practice. The Yoga tradition evaluates food and diet by the
effects that has on both the body and mind. We will investigate and
explore these teachings, and learn what impact your diet may be having
on your practice, and how food is often times our best medicine.
