This is the official start of the workshop for all levels! David will set the intention of our work together, through the integration of breath with dynamic movement.

In this class we’ll work through Surya Namaskara to look at the root techniques that inform the internal practice of Ashtanga Yoga. We’ll explore the creative connection between ujjayi breathing and the vinyasa movement system as well as the role of bandha’s (locks), dristi (gazing), and dhyana (meditation) in the practice.

This class is for everyone, especially those who are curious about how the most basic Ashtanga practice can lead you to the heights of Yoga.

Kirtan
Co-hosted at The Yoga Shala

Become absorbed in the names of the Divine through creative, devotional chanting.

It is said that when devotion is deep-rooted, the mind will flow naturally and irresistibly towards the true center.

“He who, in spite of being endowed with the vocal organ, does not sing of the worshipful Divine, is like the fool who, having got the ladder for scaling the tower of Moksha, fails to ascend it.” – Bhakti Ratnavali

SUNDAY MARCH 25

Intermediate Series Part II
8:00am – 10:30am

A continuation of the exploration of Intermediate Series as laid out by Sri K Pattabhi Jois.

Foundations - Primary Series Part II
10:45am - 1:00pm

The 2nd half of primary series. A detailed breakdown of the Asana’s from Navasana through Urdhva Dhanurasana. Inversions will also be included.

Precision, Purification, and Practice - Discussion
2:00pm - 4:00pm

This discussion will focus on how the concept of Nadi Shodana, cleansing of the pranic channels, can give insights into yoga practice. Prana Vidya, knowledge of prana, is the practice of valuing your energetic pathways, of following precisely where your energy goes in its variety of forms: physical, thought, fantasy, dream, response, and action. We'll discuss how purification is not limited to the tapas that you create during practice, but rather how cleansing encompasses your entire person. We'll explore what sort of states can be open up within you off the mat through the simple step of choosing to work with more precision in your asana practice.
